Job search

I'm broke!!! yea...thanks to all my impulsive buys, I'm so freaking broke now~

*Feeling regret*...I went online trying to search for some part time jobs (shun bin search for Carine lo...since she's also a poor girl now...hehe~)...I found this in my favorites. This was given by..erm..if I'm not mistaken is Elsa...erm...or izzit Aho??? (guys correct me if I'm wrong k...bad memories nowadays..hehe~)

You can search for all kinds of freelance or part time jobs here. Internet is so great sometimes!
This is a blog by Esther Chin. She post up mostly promoters and usherer jobs. For me, normally I only got for promoters, roadshows or event. 'Cuz all those usherer and model stuffs need TALL girls, at lest 168cm and above lor...haiz...why leh??? It's bad to discriminate short people you know!!!
This is another webbie for part time jobs. It covers more lar...as in you can too find designers jobs, data entry and even intern here! Something like jobstreet.com, but this is more to part time and freelance. And it has some useful tips too.
Or just simple find the solution to your future career here! They even have the advice for writing resume and cover letters.
With all the job listing here...poor me still jobless right now!!!
Argh...What's wrong with me!!!

The water hourse: Legend of the deep

I went movie again with the girls yesterday...haiz...how am I going to save money for my car fund when I keep on spending money now and then...aiyoyo...really sai hei lor...
Yesterday's movie of the day was...

The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep

Starring: Emily Watson, Ben Chaplin, Alex Etel, David Morrisey, Craig Hall, Joel Tobeck

Director: Jay Russell

The story was told by a "a pek" in the movie. Telling the legend from a little boy's view. We were quite fascinated at first with the scenery. ooo...the tale was told in Scotland. Our tension level burst up to 101% when the scene turns to a boy trying to drown himself...stupid lar..cannot tahan all these movie every time trying to show some climax where we don't even know what going on most of the time. Then the story continues when the boy found an egg...and this is only the beginning of the tale. We spend the rest of the time laughing through the cuteness of the water horse lar...so cute lar..summor the dog so bodoh wanted to "chek chao" with the humongous creature.

Movie rating: okok lar...

PS: A movie that you can bring little kids along but blindfold them until the cute scene. If not you'll have trouble putting them to bed.

Happy B'day Chee Khoon!

Yesterday was my first baking session with my course mates. Yan came out with this idea since we don't know what to buy for CK's birthday.
(CK's a pro in baking cheesecakes!).

After finish buying all the ingredients, we headed straight to CK's house for the cake baking! For your information, the cake we are baking is actually for CK's birthday..and...the interesting part is we are baking at his place! haha~ funny rite? where got people bake their own birthday cake wan?!

Cake of the day - New York Cheesecake

The Ingredients:
Cream cheese
Vanilla essence
Lemon zests
Whipping cream
Unsalted butter
Sugar
Digestive biscuits
All purpose flour
(it's actually normal tepung gandum lar)

...we bought some sugar details for deco too...

Step 1:
Crush the digestive biscuits and mixed it with butter and sugar. Then throw it into the microwave for a few seconds. It's for the base crust. Refrigerate it for a few minutes after moulding it into the baking pan. Me and Tan almost get fed up doing this 'cuz Master CK is so particular that every bit of the biscuits must be FINELY crushed!!!

Step 2:
Put the cream cheese (trust me you won't wanna see this process...it's so gross with the cheese all over your hand!) and other ingredients into the mixing bowl. Mix everything till smooth.

Step 3:
Pour the cheesy filling into the baking pan with crust and bake it for about an hour.

In the mean time...
We played our all time favourite...MAHJONG!!! Well, that's the only entertainment at CK's place. yeah..gambling! But we did used up our spare time meaningfully...haha...we came up with a new mahjong game of 4 by using only 3 kaki's mahjong set...haha~ Well, gamblers are always flexible...haha!

After almost 1 hour...
top of the cake...before we took it out of the pan...

top of the cake...after we took it out of the pan..
(we accidentally peel of the top! haha!)

Tada! our cake...okey it doesn't look so nice lar..but then...wait till you see our deco...haha~

Yan trying to "save" our cake with the deco...

our end product...haha...kana kiddo a ni kuan lar...haha...
I name it our kindergarden style cheesecake~

The first biji taste horrible, but the second biji taste great. Besides some unmelted sugar in the base crust. It's perfect...haha!

HAPPY 22nd BIRTHDAY CHEE KHOON!!!
May all your wishes be blessed and hope you get back your car soon! hehe

Banana Leaf Rice @ One Utama

There goes another "food" post of mine...

Yesterday after coming down from Genting me and bb decided to have our lunch at 1U. Thus I spotted this...

Curry leaf?? curious?? hehe~ Their promotion for now is the famous Indian Banana Leaf Rice with only RM4.90!!! Yeah..the price caught my attention...and Banana Leaf Rice is just so so yummy~

Their simple yet tidy menu...a bit too simple for a restaurant like this don't you think so? (*PS: if you wanna order banana leaf rice, ask for a second menu...it's not stated in the main menu...so complicated rite?)

After some taking some blur orderings (dah abit pening with the waiter's Indian slang..hehe..but..this proves that I'm really in a Indian restaurant ma rite?...*pengsan*)...

Here comes our sauces and papadam (hope I spelled it correctly...hehe...)

Before

And here comes out meal...hehe...classy serving siap with plate summor...hehe...so diff from what we use to eat in those traditional Indian restaurant.

Lauk-pauk of the day (*PS again: do not order others besides banana leaf rice...because it's damn expensive...our sotong at the top right corner of the picture costs us RM2.60!)

Overall it's not bad, not really spicy.

We paid RM14.85 for a meal for two.

After

I wonder do they plant curry leaves??? hehe~

Location of shop:
LG One Utama, it's at the rainforest there, Kluang Station that exit.

Serving of Banana Leaf Rice:
Rice+2vege+2curry+papadam+cucumber(something like acar I guess)+yogurt(optional)...and the best part is it's Vegetarian...so for vege lovers it's your choice!

Looks nice?? Forgotten what's the name for it...it stated on the menu with beef but we change it to chicken instead...it's actually meant for 1 person but it feeds 2 pax well too if you wanna give others a try...

we took these too...RM4.60 per plate but it's worth a try!

Sunday...

It's another gambling day! Me and bb went Genting to meet up with his parents. While waiting for the bus, we bought some big apple for breakfast...I just love donuts! And on our way to my food..haha..these catches my eyes...

Pretty isn't it? These are all balloons!!! Sinye for sure will go crazy with this...haha~

On the way back from Genting...somewhere at Titiwangsa Lake (according to bb...) I saw this...it is such a beautiful scene...it's like those scenery that we always like to describe during those primary days...hehe~ (*peeps...the bus driver keep on playing those Chinese songs that we used to listen during the 90's...my god...we are really growing up!!!)

What you see in the sky are not birds...it's kites!!! dah lame tak main layang-layang lar...I don't wanna grow up!

Well, I didn't realised that laine tagged me until I read Elsa's blog..haha..paiseh arh laine..jiji sometimes can be very blur at times..haha!

Okey I'll just cut the crap again..

Today's tagged will be 5 desert island disc.
NO compilations, NO "best-of" and NO "greatest hits", just the album!
Erm..it's quite hard for me 'cuz I'm those type of person that prefers listening to the radio than album. Songs from random artists makes me happier...hehe~
Okey here goes the list...

Jay Chao'S Fantasy

Although this album does not include my favourite song. But most of the song are so superb that you'll never get bored with it!

Avril Lavigne'S Under My Skin
I personally like this album the most, especially "my happy ending" and "nobody's home"...her latest album rocks too...hehe~

Kiroro'S Tree Of Life
A Japanese girls group from Okinawa. Made up of a pianist and a vocalist. Kiroro has a very fresh and comfortable voice. Highly recommended by me...hehe...

LeAnn Rimes'S Twisted Angel
Another really nice country song album. I had an impulsive buy on this album during my sec school days...hehe~ Her voice is really powerful yet...erm..so country?? hehe...

Energy'S 1st album
Although I'm not so crazy for them like those days anymore, but I'll still prefer to be stranded on an island with this album. It always reminds me of my good old sec school days...miss you girls so much...muakss!

Beware of eating outside food!

A Message from Elsa's blog....a every-one-should-know!!!

"Don't simply eat outside foods lately, especially those that are bbq-ed!! There's a group of HIV infected people who prick their skin with bamboo sticks and use their blood to contaminate the foor or direct infection via the sticks. This has been proven to be a real case where some uni graduates had been infected."

Scary, ain't it? Curse those people who did these! Do inform all the people around you. Better eat safe than be sorry.

Stress-free day?

I'm trying to be very optimistic and stress-free here, but those lecturer are not cooperation with me. I've been having tests non-stop since Chinese New Year. Yea...believe me...it's non-stop, at least a test a week!
How can I live in a stress-free life like this.

I had Financial Maths test for breakfast today, presentation for lunch (with all the weird questions from the smart ones...yea...it can consider stressfull too~) and Java Programming test for tea break! OoOoOo...

Well, as to release tension...haha...okey lar...it's just another excuse to take good food...hehe~ Me, Yan and Tan went for lunch at the banglo-turned-bistro near University Tower. Yan spotted the bistro-cafe at night, it's really nice with the surroundings...so erm...home sweet home...hehe~ Since we are already quite bloated with our notes, we shared the food instead. Fancy place, fancy deco, plain food but with fancy price...as what we've expected....well...for heaven sake it's a bistro!

Ooooo...it's a IKEA concept cafe oso..haha...cuz almost everything you find there is from IKEA!

We wanted to have a quick look at the notes before going into the exam hall...eat yet not forgetting study....

Yan ordered plain water and it is served this way~ Fancy eh?

Food today was Pistachio Chocolate Cake (it taste something like those apollo cakes that we buy in canteen during primary days...) it's acceptable....and the other thing was pizza... (Opps...forgotten to take pictures d~)

Political Tusnami!!!

Yesterday may be the biggest event in 2008 besides the Beijing Olympics I guess. My whole family was in front of the monitor yesterday trying to get the latest results of the GE. Yup...it was a shock for all of us! The opposition manage to ruled FIVE states that includes Penang, Kedah, Selangor, Perak and Kelantan.

According to today's Newspapers, "The Barisan Nasional will form the next Government as it has won more than half the parliamentary seats. However, the coalition suffered some of the greatest defeats in its history. Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, in accepting the results, said that this was clear proof of democracy at work in the country." Wow...people's power has already taken hold of the country's politics isn't it?

Besides loosing 5 states to the opposition, some of the long-term BN leaders also has been defeated. Among those were:
  • Datuk Seri S.Samy Vellu (poor thing...yesterday was he's 72nd birthday~)
  • Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil (she looks kind to me on tv..but still...she fails to remain her sit~)
  • Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon (OMG...this is shocking! He's the former Penang CM!!! So Penang folks...be ready to welcome ur new CM...hehe~)
  • Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin

For those who still don't know what is going on, please log in to any Malaysia's newspaper website to get the latest info about it~!

For all oppositions...good luck and work hard to prove that with the sound and spirit of the people you are better~

FLOOD

Another movie day!

The movie we watched yesterday was FLOOD. Erm...it's quite short for a thriller like this. Only 1 hour 45 minutes! Rating for this movie? Well, I'll give a 3 out of 5 stars.

The Synopsis:
Flood is a disaster film set in London and Scotland. Estranged meteorologoist father Leonard (Courtnay) and Marine Engineer son (Carlyle) are caught up in a weather related disaster as spring tides meet a freak North Sea Superstorm, flooding London. Brought together at the Thames Barrier, they are flung apart again by the elements as Rob leaps into a swollen Thames with his ex wife. These two meet clumps of survivors and plucky London Transport Engineers as they journey upstream to Central London losing comrades to the waters as they go. Father and son unite again for the time pressured final action event back at the barrier with the added threat of a Dambuster's like air strike.

For those who planned to watch it, this show is kinda like Cloverfield where some disaster swipes out the metropolitan city, takes up thousands of lives...and etc. Not too worry about the dizzyness tho'...hehe...because this is not taken from the first person view...haha...

Carrot slice @ Secret Recipie

Stop the love shape walnut in it?
Looks nice, taste nice at the first bite but after eating almost half of it I feel like vomiting~ yucks!

Okey...after some serious posting before this, I wanna share with you guys my day for Sushi at The Gardens.

Me, Tan and Yan went for a 5 hours shopping on tuesday during our break time. After wondering around in Mid Valley for quite some time, we decided to try out the new sushi shop, Sushi Zenmai at The Gardens. (since yan said it's nice and not-too-expensive...) I'm not gonna talk much about it, just let the picture do the talking ya~

Greenish menu with classy cups...

Wasabillar Roll...

Stylish lamps all over the dining place...

Belt sushi price range from RM1.60 to RM6.00...almost the same as compared to Sushi King...But this is far more nicer than it~

Think global, act local.

Think global, act local
by Dr Wong Ang Peng

Today, we live in an era of challenging time. Along with globalisation comes storm clouds and it is the job of all of us, and even more our nation’s leaders, to fully understand these challenges, to prepare for them, and to act in accordance to the needs of the nation and its people.

- A new era where the US economy is quite likely to crash or go into deep recession. US’s trade with the rest of the world, and with China and India, will be affected. World economic growth slows down. When China is affected, Malaysia will also be affected. Our exports, especially in palm oil which saw boom in the last five years, will see a decline.
- A new era where the US dollar will stop to be the reserve currency of the world. More and more oil producing countries will want to sell their oil in non-US currencies (Note: Selling oil in US dollars means US owns half the oil produced anywhere in the world, together with the producing country, because US prints the currency or merely creates the money virtually from thin air). There is a strong possibility that before US economy crashes and before the world dumps US dollars, the neo-conservatives in the Bush Administration will want to start a diversionary war in Iran, and hence may escalate into World War III.
- A new era of the beginning of the end of the American Century and the end of the American Empire. With emerging global players like China and India, the 21st century could very well belong to Asia.
- A new era of stagflation. The world is on course to enter the next five years of economic recession and hyper-inflation. Oil prices will sky rocket. Money supply has increased because virtually every country on earth has printed large sums of paper currencies unmatched with their Gross Domestic Product. High oil price and increase in money supply are the twin turbo engines for hyper-inflation, and high consumer prices.
- A new era of rising interest rates. Economic planners will have no choice but to plan for an upward rising interest rate to curb inflation. Those who are overexposed to bank loans need to be extra careful from now.
- A new era where the world’s super elite, through Big Finance, Big oil, Big Agribusiness, Big Pharma, Big Media, slowly and effectively exert control of the world by bankrupting small countries, forming regional governing bodies, and finally having one world government. Sovereignty of individual nation will be lost.
- A new era of mega-corporate takeovers. Big multi-national corporations encroaching into retail business, hence displacing all the small retailers which are traditionally family-owned. Even in this region, Sovereign wealth funds like Temasek and Singapore Inc, have been buying up strategic companies in South-East Asia and Malaysia.
- A new era of health freedom curbed. Codex Alimentarius, a UN body under WHO and FAO, is currently formulating guidelines to limit access to good quality food supplements. Codex’s guidelines allow low level nutrients and limit the number and type of nutrients, under the pretext of consumer protection, but in actual fact the key policy makers from Europe and US are working for the interest of large industries.
- A new era of the world’s super elite controlling the world’s food supply. The words of Henry Kissinger in 1970 are chilling till this day: ‘Control oil and you control nations; control food and you control the people’. Today the race to patent GE (genetically engineered) seeds is fierce. GE seeds, or terminator seeds, from harvested GE crops, are designed and created not to sprout and grow into plants. Hence the name – terminator seeds. Traditionally farmers keep their best seeds after harvesting, for the next season’s planting.
Big Agribusiness’s aim, controlled by the world’s super elite, is to convert traditional farming to GE farming worldwide. Once accomplished, farmers will have to rely on supply of GE seeds from multinational agribusiness giants like Monsanto, DuPont, Dow AgriSciences and Cargill. Through GE food, nations and their people can be controlled.
- A new era of great divide, between the ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’. The minority rich will be even richer while the middle class, lower-middle income group and the poor will fall backward and be even poorer. The gap widens between those with wealth to create wealth, and those with little wealth being eroded away through inflation. The gap widens between those with and without knowledge in information technology, between urban and rural folks, between those with land and those without.
- A new era of high rate of chronic diseases. Today, in every two deaths, one is heart attack. One in four has cancer. High blood pressure and diabetes are getting common among teenagers. Rates of kidneys failure, blindness, infertility, and other chronic diseases are climbing. It is now common to see two persons in one family to suffer cancer at the same time. Paying for the medical bills of a family member suffering from a chronic disease is enough to bring the whole family’s savings to zero. We already have answers for these health problems, if only we search deep enough for published scientific information.

Are we prepared?
The issues mentioned above are only part of a long list of geopolitical, economic, social and environmental, and health problems. The big question is whether we are prepared for those issues as they surface. But what can we expect from our nation’s leaders and politicians when most of them are clueless of the geopolitical conflicts, the world economic boom and bust cycles, the covert control of the world’s oil supply, the bully tactics of US at UN bodies and towards Third World nations, the covert planning towards the world into a One World Government, etc, etc? Clueless leaders and politicians only watch things as they happen. They act only after things have happened.

Besides, how can we expect our politicians to act for our country’s interest as a whole, and in accordance to the needs of all the people, when our ruling parties and their politicians are so petty on racial issues, petty on stirring racial sentiments, petty on ‘divide and rule’ tactics, petty on religious tolerance, petty on seeking government projects for own self, petty on politics of patronage?
Since independence we have become more divisive than ever. Umno politicians have very successfully used the ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ (Malay dominance) indoctrination to instill fear and insecurity among Malays, and at the same time creating an imaginary enemy of the Chinese hungry to overwhelm the Malays of their rights and power. This is akin to the notorious Bush Administration of USA creating an imaginary enemy of the Al-Qaeda and started a global war on terror. The whole world now knows that the war on terror is all about economic dominance, the control of oil, and to perpetuate the American empire into the 21st century.

We should be reminded of the quotation from the American philosopher and historian, William J. Durant, ie, "A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within". Malaysians of all races must now rise to check the rot and decadence of our socio-economic-political stature. Rise before we destroy ourselves from within and present ourselves as easy prey to foreign dominion and takeover.

It is now time for us all to put aside all pettiness and start thinking as one. Start thinking as Malaysians as a whole. Start thinking as one country and one people. But this cannot happen if we vote in the same type of politicians to represent us either in the parliament or state assemblies.

It is time for change. Change not as sudden change in government. Change by voting new voices to inject new thoughts and ideas at the national and state level. New voices without fear and without favour, that will echo throughout 365 days in a year, and will not be cowered to silence. New thoughts, new ideas, and new voices with a global insight and unselfishly willing to take action and lead a truly united Malaysians into the challenging time ahead.

Election fever everywhere...

8 March 2008 is a very important date for us Malaysians. Yup...It's election day! As the polling fever is the hottest thing now, talks are given by all parties almost every night to pull as much votes as possible to win the game.

I just came back from a talk given by the opposition site. Our women's pride Ms Fong Po Kwan was one of the speaker tonight. (she's really damn famous man! ka na at Jay Chao concert liddat arh~ Her influential status...was superb!) Several topics had been touched especially those regarding our country's economy, corruption and the ratio problem. It has made me realised that what an asshole I am for being so naive. Things are happening around us. People with control rules. As one of the speaker had said "Our country is now like a circus, and we are the clowns and animals in it. We are the slaves of the country." Does this hit you? We despite of races and religions work so hard everyday just to feed our circus masters. Don't believe it? Well, where does your income tax had gone? Some may said "I do not pay income tax so does that means I'm not the one feeding?" Wow, you are so wrong my mate. They are still charging you GST for buying goods and even for a movie!

"My mom once told me when I was a kid that I am a Malaysian Chinese, but when I grew older, I learned that I am not only a Malaysian Chinese but also a non-bumiputera. When I come into the real world I learned that I'm not only a Malaysian Chinese, a non-bumi, I'm also a non-muslim." I remember this sentence said by one of the speaker so clearly because it too touches my heart.

Although it had rain quite heavily just now, but this does not wipe off the spirit of the voters. Some run for shelters but some they still stay where they are. I can't even see the outdoor stage even though it's pouring!

So just a reminder guys, no matter where you are or what you are doing. The political status of the country does affect your everyday life. As you are holding a Malaysian Identification Card! I am so regret that I've missed the registring and lost a precious vote myself. For those who had already registered. Vote wisely for your future.
