Day 4 @ Sabah

Road trip to Kundasang

We rented two little kancils for our three days road trip to Kundasang and Kudat. Our journey start off around 8am after breakfast at the nearby mamak. Everything were going smoothly on the way. Sabah really has very very nice scenery, greens everywhere!

CheongHong the driver, Aho, MeiSyn and SheikThing aka Maharani were in the first kancil. While me, bb, Elsa and PohChing were in the other.

Stopping on the way to take a good picture of Mount Kinabalu!

After passing by almost 20-30 churches. I guess Sabah is famous for Catholic Church too. On the way to Kundasang there's a lot of them, almost every 1km there's one! We finally reached our first destination. The Kinabalu Park. Here's the place where hikers starts their journey to climb Mount KK. Imagine four adults in a 660cc Kancil with luggage at the back of the car going up a more than 10% slope. It's worst than going up Genting! All of us besides the driver had to come down of the car and WALKed..yea...walked up. Luckily it's still early and there wasn't a lot of cars passing by then. So paiseh ne~

Resting our little kancils on the way up Kinabalu Park

Gateway to the entrance of the route

The world records!

Route to the tip of the highest mount in South East Asia

Not forgetting cam-whoring at the entrance. Since Elsa forgotten to bring her tripod, we used PohChing's mini tripod instead, that's way the photo looks so low.

Cam-whoring at the roof top

Aho trying to become a professional photographer...*poof*...but failed...hehe~

Us trying to be funny at the roof top while others are preparing to climb the mount...hehe~

Our baby kancil have to rest AGAIN before heading to Kundasang

After another 45 minutes ride, we reached our next town - Kundasang. A really small town with greens everywhere!

Houses were built on top of the hills apart from each other

The short houses at the back of us were actually shops selling fresh veges and flowers

Meet our new found friend, kak fatimah..haha~

Us chilling by the roadside

Have you seen this kinda petrol station before? Totally vintage...

Vegetables, flowers and fruits were damn fresh here. We bought some fruits back and enjoyed it with the beautiful scenery at the resort. Coming down from the resort, our next destination was the Kundasang War Memorial. A must visit site when you are here in Kundasang. Established in 1962, this was one of the first memorials to commemorate the brave Australian and British Prisoners of War who died in Sandakan and during the infamous death marches to Ranau during World War II.

The board wrote "tolong jangan pijak saya nanti saya mati" at the Australian Garden

The Borneo Garden

England Garden

We moved on for a very expensive lunch at a old coffee shop in Ranau, another small town along the way. For another almost one hour car ride we reached the Poring Hot Spring.

We were amazed by the rapid water knocking the rocks!

According to Elsa there's a waterfall nearby, so went went off again for our mini expedition tour. Taking almost 700m of walking in the woods, our hard work paid off with the beautiful creation of mother nature, the Kipungit Waterfall. We didn't bring any clothes to change nor towel to wrap up because we thought that the waterfall was just nearby or may be the water was not as clean as we thought. We were planning to turn back for the dry clothes, but the journey was too far and tiring! How smart we are huh...Despite of walking in the woods with wet bottoms, the guys jumped into the chilling waters immediately.

Elsa and the others did some free fish spa in the water. I've tried once but did not like the itchy feeling of it..hehe~ Elsa and Aho tried for the big fishies later on too!

Aho and CheongHong were so advantures on the way back that they went into an abandant toilet in the woods! FYI, one have to walk about 100m down the trail that leads to the toilet and picnic place, where I don't think there is a trail there nor a picnic place!

In the woods

First the cool water of the waterfall, then the warm water from the hot spring. We soak in for about half an hour before heading back.

I guess I'm allergy to the sulfur content in the hot spring. My legs were getting these red dots and the worst thing is it feels so damn itchy! Without taking the risk for an hour ride to be back to the resort, I wash myself up in the KFC toilet at Ranau while others were taking away KFC for dinner!

We spend the night at Zen Garden Resort before continuing our journey the following day.
